NYSEG Smart Meter Open House and More

Dear Town of Ausable Residents,

We’re excited to share some recent news from New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), part of the Avangrid family, as they continue their efforts to connect with our community in 2025. On Tuesday, April 29, NYSEG will host a Smart Meter Open House in Au Sable Forks, Jay Community Center, at 11 School Lane from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about smart meters, energy efficiency, and how NYSEG is working to improve the services we rely on every day.

NYSEG has already held 13 outreach events across Upstate New York this year, reaching over 800 people in 10 counties. These events—including community meetings, summits, and open houses like the one coming to our town—are designed to keep us informed about important topics like winter bills, energy consumption habits, infrastructure investments, and assistance programs for low-income households, such as HEAP. Dave Gridley, NYSEG’s Director of Municipal, Community, and Business Relations, emphasized their commitment: “Our goal is to be transparent partners in the communities that rely on our service.” We couldn’t agree more—having NYSEG come directly to us helps build trust and understanding.

Looking ahead, NYSEG has promised more events through July, so stay tuned for additional chances to connect. For those unfamiliar, NYSEG serves nearly 900,000 electricity customers and over 266,000 natural gas customers across 40% of Upstate New York—including us here in Au Sable. They manage an impressive network of 35,000 miles of electric distribution lines and over 8,000 miles of gas pipelines.
