Keeseville Free Library August 2026 Newsletter Highlights
Hello neighbors in the Town of Ausable!
Summer is still in full swing, and the Keeseville Free Library has a fantastic lineup of programs, workshops, and family events planned for August 2026. Whether you’re looking for creative outlets, family-friendly entertainment, or a chance to learn something new, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a quick look at what’s coming up.
Creative Workshops
- ATC Trading Card Art with Sarah Doyle (Friday, August 7 at 2 pm) – Turn ordinary playing cards into pocket-sized (2.5 x 3.5″) miniature masterpieces using stickers, markers, glue, and paint. No artistic experience needed—just bring your creativity! These Artist Trading Cards (also called Altered Trading Cards) make great bookmarks, displays, or items to trade with friends. Preregistration required.
- The Art of Batik with Jessie Furnia (Thursday, August 6 at 6 pm) – Explore this ancient textile art that uses wax resist and dyeing to create beautiful patterns. Learn techniques with roots in cultures from China and India to Indonesia, Africa, and even ancient Egypt. Create fabric art you can display or turn into clothing/accessories. Preregistration required.
Family & Kids’ Events
- Ventriloquist Doug Mickan (Friday, August 21 at 1 pm) – Doug and his lovable characters will take kids and parents on an adventure about reading and imagination, tying into the library’s summer reading program theme “Unearth a Story.” Preregistration required.
- A List of Love Book Reading for kids with Brittany Allen (Monday, August 24 at 11:10 am) – A special storytime-style reading. Preregistration required.
- Ongoing: Children’s Storytime every Tuesday at 10 am.
Nature & Learning
- Magical Monarch Butterflies with Greg Gaul (Tuesday, August 25 at 6 pm) – Discover the life cycle, habitat, migration (up to 2,000 miles!), and the unique “super generation” of monarchs. Learn which ones migrate, pollinator plants, and even the U.S. state where a population lives year-round. Perfect for gardeners and nature lovers. Preregistration required.
