Cemetery Revival Planning Meeting Announced!

Things are heating up at Cemetery Revival, and we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates with you! As a community dedicated to preserving and revitalizing our local cemeteries, we’re moving fast and furious toward making a real difference in the “Old Burial Grounds.” If you’re passionate about history, community service, or simply giving back to our town’s heritage, we invite you to be part of this journey.

Upcoming Planning Meeting: Mark Your Calendars!

Janne Lanzoni, Cemetery Revival, is hosting a key planning meeting on August 13th at 2:00 PM at Family Search Center, 26 Dennis Ave, Plattsburgh. This is your chance to get involved and help shape the future of our cemetery restoration efforts. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, your input and enthusiasm are welcome!

Key Topics on the Agenda

They’ll be diving into several important initiatives during the meeting. Here’s a sneak peek at what will be discussed:

• Go, Go, Goats! – Exploring innovative, eco-friendly ways to maintain cemetery grounds using goats for natural vegetation control. It’s a fun and sustainable approach that’s gaining popularity in historic site preservation.
• Gravestone Restoration Training Project – Hands-on training opportunities to learn how to safely restore and preserve gravestones, ensuring our ancestors’ stories endure for generations.
• Finding Grant Funding – Strategies to secure grants and funding to support the restoration of the “Old Burial Grounds.” We’ll brainstorm ideas and share resources to make this a reality.
• Forming a Cemetery Association – A crucial discussion on establishing a formal cemetery association to partner with the Town of Ausable in managing and maintaining the “Old Burial Grounds.” This group would provide ongoing support, organize events, and coordinate volunteers.

Our goal for this meeting is to gather enough interest to build a strong foundation group for the cemetery association and recruit additional volunteers to join the Cemetery Revival team. Together, we can turn vision into action!
