Celebrate the 250th Anniversary with a Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Dear Neighbors in the Town of Ausable,
As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s birth in 2026, there’s no better way to honor our shared American heritage than by coming together to hear the powerful words that declared our independence. The Sons of the American Revolution – Valcour Battle Chapter and the Clinton County Historical Association are proud to present a special public event right in our region, and we encourage every resident of Ausable to join in.
A Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Friday, July 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM
Veterans Park, US Oval, Plattsburgh, NY
Local historian John Krueger will deliver a dramatic, interpretive reading of the full Declaration of Independence. This moving presentation will bring history to life and remind us of the courage, principles, and sacrifices that founded our country.
The program will also feature community participants, including:
- Cumberland Bay Chorus
- Adirondack District Twin Rivers Council of Scouting America
- Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York
This free, family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity for all ages to reflect on our nation’s founding ideals. Limited seating will be available, so lawn chairs are encouraged. Everyone is welcome!
Whether you’re a longtime resident, a veteran, a Scout family, or simply someone who values our American story, this is a meaningful way to celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary together as a community.
