A Huge Thank You: Keeseville’s Pig Roast Fundraiser Raises $3,000 for Hometown Heroes Banners!

What an incredible day in Keeseville! On September 20, 2025, our community came together at the Memorial VFW Post 1505 (1309 U.S. 9) for a mouthwatering pig roast that wasn’t just about the food—it was about honoring the brave men and women who make our town proud. And the results? We’re thrilled to announce that the event was a resounding success, raising an amazing $3,000 to support the replacement and maintenance of our cherished Hometown Heroes banners!

These banners, proudly displayed along our streets, pay tribute to local veterans and heroes whose service—both in uniform and in our community—continues to inspire us all. Over the years, weather and time have taken their toll, but thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, dined in, took meals to go, or simply spread the word, we’ll be able to refresh these symbols of gratitude and keep their stories shining bright.

A Shoutout to Russel Allogio

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of Russel Allogio, a true hometown hero himself. As a veteran and valued member of the Town Highway Department, Russel stepped up to lead the fundraising effort with passion and heart. From organizing the logistics to rallying our neighbors, his commitment to preserving these banners reflects the very spirit they honor. Russel, on behalf of the entire Keeseville community: Thank you for your service, your leadership, and for reminding us what community means. You’re a beacon for us all!

Highlights from the Day

• Delicious Eats: Over 100 plates of juicy pig roast, complete with baked potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, and decadent desserts, were served from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The aroma alone drew folks in!
• Community Vibes: Laughter, stories from fellow veterans, and heartfelt conversations filled the VFW hall. It was a perfect blend of good food and even better company.
• Impact: That $3,000 will go straight toward new banners, ensuring our heroes’ legacies endure for generations.
