How Disconnections Work
If your account is in arrears, NYSEG follows a process required by the New York State Public Service Commission to provide ample warning before any disconnection:
- A bill notification
- A reminder notice or phone call
- A termination notice with an additional payment period
- Another phone call
- An in-person field visit to collect payment or disconnect service
This multi-step process ensures you have multiple opportunities to address your balance before any action is taken.
