Discover the Estes Legacy: A Journey Through Time at Anderson Falls Heritage Society
Mark your calendars for an inspiring evening with the Anderson Falls Heritage Society on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Keeseville Fire Department, located at 8 Pleasant Street, Keeseville, NY. The event, The Estes: A Family and Business Through Centuries and Generations, promises to weave a captivating tale of family, perseverance, and entrepreneurial spirit. Best of all, admission is free, and the public is warmly welcomed!
This special presentation shines a spotlight on the remarkable story of the Estes family and their business, E.B. Estes and Sons, now known as Clifford W. Estes Co. Dating back to the 1600s, when the family first arrived from England, the Estes saga is a quintessential American story of grit and ambition. In 1847, Elihu Beech Estes laid the foundation for a small business in Port Kent, NY, driven by the simple goal of providing for his family. What began as a modest venture has grown over six generations into a nationally recognized leader in color solutions, serving multiple industries with unparalleled expertise.
The evening’s guest speaker, Doug Estes, brings a personal and profound perspective to this narrative. As the great-great-great-grandson of Benjamin Hall Estes and the great-great-grandson of Elihu Beech Estes, Doug represents the fifth generation to lead the family business. A 1985 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), he joined the company that same year and has since guided it to new heights. Today, all four of Doug’s children are part of the company, proudly carrying the legacy into its sixth generation. Doug’s talk will intertwine the rich history of the Estes family with the evolution of their business, offering a unique glimpse into how a small dream became a cornerstone of American industry.
From its humble beginnings to earning the title “leaders in color,” the Clifford W. Estes Co. stands as a testament to innovation, resilience, and family values. This event is a must-attend for anyone interested in history, entrepreneurship, or the enduring power of legacy. Whether you’re a local history buff or simply curious about a family that turned a vision into a thriving enterprise, this presentation will leave you inspired.
