On a warm autumn afternoon, October 7, 2025, the Anderson Falls Heritage Society had the privilege of hosting a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony at Riverview Cemetery in Clintonville, NY, to unveil a Patriot Burial marker honoring Sergeant Major James Weston, a hero of the American Revolutionary War. The event, bathed in the golden hues of fall, was a resounding success, drawing a remarkable turnout of community members, history enthusiasts, and distinguished guests who gathered to pay tribute to a man whose courage helped shape our nation.

The ceremony, held at 1:30 PM, was a poignant moment of reflection and gratitude. Despite the possibility of rain, the skies held clear, allowing attendees to stand together in solemn unity at the historic Riverview Cemetery, where James Weston and his wife, Sarah “Sally” Witherell Weston, rest. The marker, generously funded by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation’s Patriot Burials program and supported by the Empire State Society Sons of the American Revolution, now stands as a lasting tribute to Weston’s service from Massachusetts and his enduring legacy in Clintonville.
