2026 Adirondack Planning Forum Recap
Dear Town of Ausable Residents,
I’m pleased to share a brief recap of the 2026 Adirondack Planning Forum I attended this week in Saranac Lake, along with Town of Chesterfield Supervisor Clayton Barber.
Wednesday: Roundtable with State Leaders
We joined an invitation-only roundtable discussion with senior officials from key state agencies, including NYSDEC, NYSERDA, Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the Adirondack Park Agency (APA), and others.
Conversations covered critical topics such as rising infrastructure costs, energy and battery storage solutions, and Keeseville’s $4.5 million NY Forward grant. It was a valuable opportunity to bring Adirondack perspectives directly to decision-makers in Albany — and I’m happy to report they were truly listening.
Thursday: Spotlight on Keeseville’s Progress
On Thursday, we presented to approximately 100 forum attendees about our experiences with the NY Forward program. Kylee Peck from the Department of State opened the session with an overview of how the program and the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) support local communities. Clayton and I then shared firsthand insights from Keeseville’s successful grant award last year.
The discussion was lively and engaging, and I’m proud to say Keeseville is receiving well-deserved recognition for the strong progress we’ve made across multiple fronts.
Both days offered excellent networking and meaningful information sharing that will benefit our towns as we move forward. Events like this reinforce the importance of staying actively engaged at the state level.
