NYSEG Prepares for Incoming Winter Storm

Dear AuSable Residents,

NYSEG has issued a pre-storm alert for this weekend’s weather system, which is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and possible wintry mix starting Thursday night (December 18-19, 2025). Our area, part of NYSEG’s Plattsburgh division, is among those with the highest potential for power outages due to high winds.

NYSEG is fully prepared: They’ve staged over 580 line crews and 290 tree crews statewide, along with equipment ready to respond quickly and safely.

Key Safety Tips to Prepare:

• Charge phones, tablets, and devices fully.
• Stock up on flashlights, batteries, drinking water, and non-perishable food.
• Fill your vehicle’s gas tank.
• Sign up for NYSEG Outage Alerts (text/email/phone) at nyseg.com.
• Download the NYSEG app (search “AVANGRID” in app stores) to report/track outages.
• Never approach downed power lines – stay at least 30 feet away and call 1-800-572-1131 immediately.

If outages occur, report them to NYSEG at 1-800-572-1131. Stay safe, check on neighbors, and keep refrigerators closed to preserve food.
