A Look Back at 2025: A Year of Progress and Community Spirit in the Town of AuSable

Dear AuSable Residents,

As we begin 2026, it’s a great time to reflect on the many accomplishments we achieved together in 2025. From upgrades to our facilities and new public spaces to programs supporting our residents and infrastructure improvements, this year was full of collaboration and dedication to making AuSable an even better place to call home.

Enhancing Our Community Facilities

The Keeseville Civic Center received important upgrades to improve accessibility and efficiency:

• New boilers installed for reliable, consistent heating (replacing the old wood boiler).
• ADA lift added to the gym.
• Restroom improvements progressing with the ADK Revitalization Grant from AARCH—opening soon!
• Volunteer efforts to repair, scrape, and paint interior walls.
• Space provided for the JCEO Outreach Center to help those in need.

New Greenspaces and Recreation Highlights

A major milestone was the grand opening of the Keeseville Waterfront Park (received from AARCH – thank you!) on June 4th, offering stunning views of the Ausable River and our historic bridges.

Other recreation achievements:

• Formation of the Parks & Recreation Commission, hosting events like the Beach Grand Reopening Party on July 20th and Anderson Falls Park Cleanup.
• Port Douglas Beach reopened after years of closure—a beautiful spot on Lake Champlain for all of us to enjoy!

We also received an ice rink liner for the tennis courts. Our Highway Department has been busy battling a difficult winter and keeping our roads clear – volunteers welcome to help set it up!

Supporting Residents and Infrastructure

• Assisted five homeowners with critical repairs via the CDBG Program.
• Complete Streets Program from Clinton County Health Department funded a radar trailer, dog waste stations, planters, benches, crosswalks, and $6,500 for Main Street sidewalk repairs.
• Renamed streets (e.g., Pine Estates Circle to Maxwell Drive) for better emergency response.
• Began cleanup up Liberty Street Cemetery after many years of unfortunate neglect.
• Switched to .gov website and email.
• Started a Wastewater Asset Management study to ensure financial, infrastructure and mechanical preparedness.
• Purchased shared VacTruck with Chesterfield for water, wastewater and many other municipal uses.
• Negotiated better Snow & Ice contract with Clinton County.

Community Milestones

• Established Clintonville Day on April 11th.
• Participated in Patriot Marker unveiling for Sergeant Major James Weston.
• Re-certified as NYS Pro-Housing Community.
• Submitted NY Forward Grant for 4.5M in total projects for Keeseville revitalization.
