Keeseville library director recognized for positive impact

Dear Residents of the Town of Ausable,

I hope this message finds you well. Today’s edition of the Press-Republican (March 4, 2026) features a wonderful story that highlights one of our own community members making a real difference right here in Keeseville.

Robyn Pray, the director of the Keeseville Free Library at 1721 Front St., has been named one of WOKO 98.9 “Big Country” and Hannaford’s 20 Outstanding Women of 2026. This annual recognition celebrates women in Vermont and Northern New York who are making a positive impact in their communities through dedication, leadership, and service.

Keeseville resident Bryce Dickey nominated Robyn, praising how she has transformed the library since starting as director in June 2023. What was once primarily a place to borrow books has become a true vibrant community hub. Under her leadership, the library now hosts a wide array of engaging programs and events for all ages, including:

• Adult and teen trivia nights
• Technology Tuesdays
• Children’s story hour
• Music in the library
• Mahjong sessions
• Stained glass making
• Writing workshops
• Children’s art classes
• Food and recipe sharing
• Sign language lessons
• Teen virtual reality sessions
• An Artist of the Month series featuring and selling local artists’ work
• A recovery support group for women
• GED classes

These initiatives draw participants not just from Keeseville but from across Northeastern New York. Robyn’s background in social work—spanning crisis intervention, program direction, and community support—perfectly equips her for this role in our rural area. A lifelong giver (from her time as an AmeriCorps member to running a farm as a stay-at-home mom and being involved in scouting and local causes), she describes the library directorship as “the greatest job ever” and a meaningful way to give back to the community she grew up in (a 1992 graduate of Ausable Valley Central School).

Robyn was surprised and humbled by the honor, learning about it only recently via email from WOKO. She’ll be celebrated alongside the other 19 women at an event on March 25.

This recognition is a proud moment for all of us in the Town of Ausable. It shows how one dedicated individual can strengthen our community ties, provide enriching opportunities, and create a welcoming space where everyone feels supported.
