A Reminder for Ausable Residents: Seasonal Parking Ban in Effect

Following a significant winter storm this past weekend, it’s a good time to remind ourselves of the seasonal parking regulations that help keep our town safe, accessible, and well-maintained during the colder months. The Town Board enacted Local Law #2 in 2024, known as the “Town of AuSable Parking Ban,” to ensure that our roads remain clear for emergency services, snow removal, and daily commuters. Here’s what you need to know:

What is the Parking Ban?

• Duration: The parking ban is in effect from November 1 through March 31 each year.
• Time: No parking is allowed on any Town roads, drives, streets, lanes, cul-de-sacs, and avenues between the hours of 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Why is it Important?

This regulation is crucial for several reasons:

• Safety: Keeping roads clear ensures that emergency vehicles can reach those in need without delay.
• Snow Removal: Plows can more effectively clear snow without parked vehicles in the way, keeping our streets passable.

Exceptions to the Rule

There are exceptions where parking is allowed during these hours:

• Police and Traffic Directives: When complying with law enforcement or traffic control signals.
• Loading/Unloading: Temporary parking for loading or unloading goods or passengers.
• Emergency Services: Vehicles operated by police, firefighters, or ambulance services engaged in official duties.
• Vehicle Malfunction: If your vehicle breaks down, you have up to 4 hours to arrange for its removal.
